The Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team recovered a 450-pound chess table stolen from the Umpqua Valley Arts Summer Arts Festival last weekend.
Roseburg maintains high credit rating
The City of Roseburg has maintained its high credit rating with a leading bond credit rating business. On June 24, Moody’s Investor Service, a leading provider of credit ratings for public finance issuers, issued its annual comment on the City of Roseburg and confirmed its credit rating for the City as an Aa3 with no outlook.
Roseburg Fire welcomes new employees
Roseburg Fire Chief Monte Bryan swore in the new fire marshal and two new firefighters Thursday, July 1. Bryan welcomed Fire Marshal Brian Jewell and firefighters Eric Goodboe and Garrett Russell to the department at a swearing-in ceremony held Thursday morning.
City offices closed for 4th of July observance
Roseburg City Hall, the Public Safety Center and other City offices will be closed Monday, July 5, for the 4th of July Independence Day holiday. Roseburg Public Library will be closed Saturday, July 3, to accommodate the “United We Stand” parade.
COVID-19 restrictions eased at City buildings
City officials lifted most COVID-19 restrictions at City facilities Wednesday, June 30. People are encouraged to do business with the City by email, phone or online whenever possible.

The Roseburg Fire Department would like to remind everyone to “keep it legal and keep it safe” when using fireworks this 4th of July – especially amid the current heat wave and dry conditions.
Roseburg Public Library to expand hours
Starting Tuesday, July 6, Roseburg Public Library will be open three extra hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Cooling center opens through Monday
The Roseburg Senior Center will be open to the public as a cooling center Saturday, Sunday and Monday as the National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning from 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Tuesday. The center’s capacity is limited to 150 as long as everyone wears masks, and the center is attempting to round up extra masks for anyone who doesn’t have one.
Free ‘Yoga in the Park’ begins in July
Roseburg Parks and Recreation, together with movement artist and mindfulness coach Summer Fry, are sponsoring these free yoga sessions in a South Umpqua riverfront setting on Stewart Park’s lawn on Saturday mornings starting July 10.
Maintenance to close Stewart Park Drive’s “Green Bridge” Thursday
The jade-green steel truss bridge known as the “Green Bridge” will be closed over the South Umpqua River from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday for tree-trimming maintenance. The City of Roseburg appreciates motorists' understanding and patience.
