Police encourage safe driving around schools
As kids prepare to return to the classroom, the Roseburg Police Department encourages motorists to be extra safe when driving around schools and beyond to help protect schoolchildren as they travel to and from school.
Stewart Parkway maintenance starts Sunday
City contractors will perform two nights of road maintenance on Stewart Parkway just north of the South Umpqua River starting this weekend. Pavement rehabilitation work will be done between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday, August 29, and Monday, August 30.
Splash pad open through Labor Day
There’s still time to cool off for free at the splash pad in Fir Grove Park this summer. The Fir Grove Park Splash Pad continues to be open daily from 10 a.m. to dusk through Labor Day.
Roseburg Swift Watch returns to Fir Grove
Roseburg Parks and Recreation Department, Umpqua Valley Audubon Society and the BLM invite the public to Fir Grove Park near Umpqua Valley Arts’ Clay Place on Friday evenings, Sept. 3 and 10, between 6:30 p.m. and sunset to watch seasonal migration displays by Vaux’s Swifts.
Adapt Sobering Center Opens
The Adapt Sobering Center has opened in Roseburg. The sobering center opened Friday, August 13, off Diamond Lake Boulevard near Adapt’s residential treatment facility, when the sobering center began taking referrals from local law enforcement.

Library to close building, resume curbside service
In response to the rise in COVID-19 cases locally, the Roseburg Public Library is closing the building and returning to curbside service starting next week. The library will remain open during this week to provide a place for people to get out of the heat and smoke.
