Easter Egg Drop to be held April 19
ROSEBURG, Ore. – Children 12 and under are invited to join the City’s first annual “Easter Egg Drop” on the day before Easter – and possibly catch a glimpse of the “Easter Bunny!”
Roseburg Parks and Recreation is teaming up with the Roseburg Fire Department to offer this free, family friendly event at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the Stewart Park softball field.
Shortly after 9 a.m., Roseburg Fire personnel will drop 4,000 colorful empty plastic Easter eggs from a ladder truck in the field between the YMCA of Douglas County and One Champion Car Wash Field, formerly known as “Legion Field.”
“I thought 4,000 eggs would take weeks to prepare. But it actually only took a few days to put them all together,” said Roseburg Recreation Coordinator Tracy David. “I tried to do at least 800 a day. Sometimes I did more.”
Kids will be challenged to collect one egg of each color to exchange for a prize or candy provided by Roseburg Parks, Roseburg Fire, Roseburg Public Library and local community partners such as the Boys & Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley, Cascade Community Credit Union, Umpqua Health Alliance and the YMCA.
“We’re grateful for all of the donations and commitments from community organizations that make it possible to offer this event to kids for free,” David added.
With any luck, the “Easter Bunny” might arrive aboard Roseburg Fire Department’s 1934 Chevy antique fire engine in time to pose for photos with kids!
